2 Corinthians 2
Paul's change of plans in visiting the Corinthian church (2 Corinthians 1.14-2.11), and forgiveness of the sinner (v. 5-11) and ministers of the New Covenant.
Application
Paul had good reasins about change in plans to visit. He was sensitive to the pains caused when he visit the church. The letter in 1 Corinthians was to the point and prick consciences and caused pain. Paul knows when to rebuke and when to encourage!
Hw had asked for forgiveness of the sinner. We should follow Paul's example.
Paul apporach the ministry with integrity and honesty. We need to learn this in this age of megachurches and business-like ways of church growth, the purpose driven like and go back and exemine more what the Bible says rather than what some evangelical guru had to say baout the church and growth.
Figure: we need to forgive...
Verses to meditate on:
10If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
14But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. 15For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task? 17Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.
